E-Te 510 is provided as an emulsion concentrate that, when diluted, can result in varying film thicknesses, dry times, and coverage. The resulting emulsion is known in the metal-finishing industry to last longer because of an extremely stable emulsion formulation in black oxide and phosphate applications. Contains no VOCs like water-displacing oils.

E-Tec 510 produces approximately 24 hours of resistance to 5% salt spray and 96–150 hours with a 20% solution. Formulated to dry quickly at ambient temperatures. Drying may be accelerated by use of heat, forced air, or perforated conveyor belts.
