USGA 2017: Monday Highlights

The Birds are Singing their Early Morning Songs & There's Already 20 mph Winds!

Erin Hills is just gorgeous. It's amazing how the area has turned into a small city--all the superstructure, electricity, and roads. Everyone is very friendly, they all say hello and look very excited and honored to be here, as am I!

I had the privilege of doing the paddles today--in fact they've turned my hands a bit black. The paddles are used to show which way the ball is going off from the tee--such as holding them high then bringing the paddles parallel to the ground to signify a straight shot, or angling the paddles left or right if that's the direction the ball headed. It was a great experience and I had a lot of fun.

Martin Kaymer was the first to start practicing today. It was great to see Spieth, Stricker, and Furyk as well. The group looked loose and confident while putting--nice strokes.

It was a beautifully warm day, but the a/c was very welcome come lunchtime. The volunteers village area was very nice, matching the rest of Erin Hills. The scenery and architecture is exquisite.

My first day was a great experience! Great weather, great golfers, great scenery. I'm eager to see what the rest of the week has in store for us!

Fore,

Eric
