"There are more than 13.1 million children in this country who are at risk of hunger…Children are fed during the school week by federal government programs, but we want to make sure they're getting nutritional meals over the weekend, too.
Blessings in a Backpack is…currently feeding over 87,300 children…in 45 US states."
Blessings in a Backpack is a volunteer program where lunches are provided to children in need. Today, another volunteer and I helped distribute 250 meals to children at Hadfield Elementary School. The reusable plastic totes are already packaged by other volunteers, so our job is to gather up the right number for each class and distribute the totes throughout the school.
It's Blessing's 10-year birthday! If you'd like to get involved in helping kids stay well-fed all week long, go to www.blessingsinabackpack.org to see how you can help.
