Hexavalent Chromates

Hexavalent Chromate Finishes for Zinc and Cadmium

  • E-Chrome 851-L — A yellow/bronzeiridescent finish on plated cadmium and zinc. Liquid concentrate is used at 0.5% to 3% by volume in water at 65° to 90°F. The finish has outstanding resistance to salt spray, greatly surpasses the normal 96 hour salt spray resistance specified for yellow chromates on zinc. It will withstand up to 200 hours salt spray. The deposit is a pleasing finish in itself. It is an excellent base for paint. The finish may be dyed to various colors.
  • E-Chrome 854-L — Olive drabfinish for plated cadmium and zinc surfaces. Produces the maximum in salt spray and abrasion resistance for chromate finishes. Produces an excellent base for paints and can be used to replace primers. Consists of two liquid concentrate components which are each used at 10% by volume in water at 75° to 90° F.
  • E-Chrome 860-L — Clear to blue bright finish for zinc/cadmium plated surfaces without leaching. Brightens, passivates and protects zinc surfaces from staining, finger marking, discoloration and corrosion. It can be used on automatic lines as well as manual lines. Liquid concentrate is used at 0.75% to 1.5% by volume in water at 65° to 80° F.
  • E-Chrome 861 — Black chromate for zinc which is superior to ordinary black chromates because it produces a harder, more adherent finish which is non-iridescent and much more uniform in color, while exhibiting corrosion resistance with resistance to several hundred hours of salt spray before white rust. Temperature 60° to 100° F.
  • E-Chrome 865 — A black chromate conversion finish for electro-deposited zinc or cadmium by immersion. It is especially effective for chromating bolt parts such as nuts, bolts and various fasteners.
